This module is designed to develop and enhance competencies in management information systems. The curriculum provides a broad range of theoretical, analytical and practical skills to understanding manage information systems. The module is made up of seven units.
Information systems play critical roles in business, government, and daily life and therefore the programme will produce highly skilled information system management professionals who will be able to advice and implement appropriate information systems in the private, public and the Ngo sectors.
Most managers though aware that good decisions are based on reliable and accurate information, are ignorant on the value of information systems as the source of reliable information. Developing knowledge, skills and attitudes of managers will avert the above mentioned issues.
A management information system (MIS) is a computer system consisting of hardware and software that serves as the backbone of an organization's operations. An MIS gathers data from multiple online systems, analyzes the information, and reports data to aid in management decision-making.

Operating systems (OS) provide the fundamental mechanisms for securing computer processing. OS security entails specified steps or measures used to protect the OS from threats, viruses, worms, malware or remote hacker intrusions.
The module aims at developing the participants’ knowledge, competences and attitudes in examining the security issues linked to different operating systems (windows and Linux) and develop appropriate solutions.

This module concentrates on what can go wrong with information systems, the role of management in implementing controls to prevent, detect, and correct such exposures, and the role of the audit and security functions in designing, understanding, and testing those controls. Best practices for IT governance are examined and techniques for reviewing and auditing computerized systems and controls are discussed and evaluated.

The module covers introduction to programming principles and advanced website development with MySQL and PHP. The module begins with introduction to programming principles with Emphasis on C++ Language, HTML fundamentals, Advanced web Design using latest software programs e.g Dreamweaver, Word press etc and an in-depth exploration of PHP Scripting and MySQL server database. The combination of the PHP programming language and MySQL database technology allows participants to develop increasingly complex web applications. AJAX; a hot technology that many believe is the future of website development will also be introduced.
